Blog Hop- Basic B Crochet Bikini Top

I am so excited to be part of E'Claire Makery's summer blog hop. I hope you have enjoyed all the patterns released so far. All patterns from this blog hop are also available for purchase as a summer pattern bundle (12 patterns for only $16!! Available here in Ravelry). That means you can get the following pattern ad free and in a printable PDF version for an amazing deal along with patterns from some other fantastic makers.

This is a simple & easy bikini top that is perfect for beginners or a quick project. It can be made any size using ANY yarn you wish!! I made mine using worsted weight 4 yarn (caron simply soft) and a 4.5mm hook. I added embellishments (beads on the strings and rose beads at the top) but this step is optional. Feel free to decorate your top however you wish!I look forward to seeing how you all decorate your basic b bikini's and really make them your own :)

Hope you enjoy this pattern and don’t forget to tag me in any Instagram photos of your finished bikini tops! (@knottygurlcrochet #basicbbikinitop)

Materials needed:
Stitch markers
Scissors
Yarn needle (to weave in ends)

Stitches used:
St- stitch
SC-single crochet
SS- slip stitch
Ch- chain

Pattern

Cups (make 2)

1) Ch 12, SC in 2nd chain from hook SC in next 9 St.

2)When you reach the last Ch work 3 SC in total into that Ch (place a stitch marker in the middle stitch)

3)Continue to SC down the other side of the Ch’s, Ch 1(does not count as a st), turn

4)Work 1 SC in each stitch, work 3 SC’s into the marked Stitch (continue to move the stitch marker to the middle stitch)

5)Continue working SC’s back and forth until the cup is as large as needed(do not bind off yet!)

6) SC an even number of stitches across the bottom of the cup

7) Ch 3, skip next St and then SS - repeat all the way along

8) Cut yarn and bind off and weave in ends

Body string

1) Ch until string is as long as you want/ need it to be. Cut yarn and bind off

2) Weave through holes you created along the bottom of the cups in step 7

Neck strings (make 2)

1) Ch until string is as long as you want/need it to be (keep track of how many Ch’s you make as you need to make a second string of equal length!)

2)  SS 5 Ch’s back to form a ring, cut yarn and bind off
-I used a darning needle to help “sew” the yarn around the ring to make it more secure

3) To assemble, insert string into top stitch of cup and then pull through the loop you created.

Decorating your top with beads is optional! I added some beads onto the strings and some rose beads on each cup. You can use whatever you wish to decorate yours!!!!

Happy Making
